It’s hit and miss with Garmin.
I have a P210N and there are plenty of P210N’s flying and no STC for the GFC 500, but with the C182RG getting an STC recently – go figure !!
It’s a brilliant autopilot all round.
BTW – how well does the STEC 3100 interface with Garmin avionics and fly the aircraft, particularly on RNAV approaches (LNAV+V),…[Read more]
I am looking at fitting a radar unit to my P210N.
It’s proving a challenge to find a suitable radar pod here in Australia. Does anyone have any ideas where to start in the U.S. for a used pod complete with attachment fittings?
I don’t believe the Garmin G500 is analog.
I have an STEC 55X in a P210N and would prefer a GFC500 if Garmin ever adds this variant to the STC AML.
But I would look at an STEC 3100 if they can solve the en-route VNAV integration with the Garmin GTN series. Who know how far away this is.
I think the Larry Vitatoe STC for the P210N is one of the best options around – Had mine for a year now and very satisfied with it. Regularly see 205 KT TAS at 21,000 ft at 30 inches and 2500 rpm LOP. At cruise, fuel flow hovers around 60 litres per hour (15.7 GPH). I have not flown a P210R, but these numbers are hard to beat.
Great idea to get…[Read more]
I have a Vitatoe P210N – It’s a great conversion. At 21000 ft, I consistently get 205 – 210kt TAS (no radar pod or icing) at just over 75%.
The engine CHTs rarely get above 340° in cruise with cowl flaps closed. Fuel flow pretty much as stated above at 30″ and 2500 rpm. TIT sits around 1550°.
Mine has a Hartzell scimitar prop which was done du…[Read more]
Thanks Mark – won’t be dealing with them.
I have a p210N already equipped with this kit and while it is functioning OK right now, am looking for some backup parts support when the time comes. Did read your blog post.
