Description

Over the years, staff at the Cessna Pilots Association have given a number of talks, seminars and classes on Cessna aircraft around the country including EAA‘s AirVenture at Oshkosh. At the end of these sessions there are always a few people who expressed a thought along the lines of: Boy, I wish I had talked to you before I bought my airplane. This buyer’s guide is the best way we have found to talk to everyone before they buy their airplane.

This book gathers together all of the really important information on buying a Cessna 182 Skylane. Some of the details highlighted in this guide are: performance numbers, changes between years, safety aspects, insurance, pricing, answers to frequently asked questions, modifications, airworthiness directives and much more. The Pre-Purchase Inspection Guidelines will be particularly useful to buyers, as it will guide them to finding the right 182 at the right price.

One thing we have discovered over the years is that the Cessna 182 Skylane is such a solid aircraft that it is hard to find a “bad” one. Even if the maintenance has been poor and the use hard, some love and attention–and of course some money–will return the aircraft quickly to the quality airplane it was when it was first produced.

Note on models covered: This guide does not include the retractable landing gear R182 Skylane RG or its sister ship the turbo-charged, retractable landing gear TR182 Turbo-Skylane RG. The newer model Lycoming powered fixed gear 182 Skylane introduced in 1997, are not included in this edition of the buyer’s guide. However, the somewhat rare turbo-charged, fixed landing gear T182 Turbo-Skylane, produced from 1981 until 1986, is covered this edition of the buyer’s guide.
